Rising house prices
Friday, 23rd March 2007A recent housing survey has shown that house prices have risen dramatically in March, and the number of estate agents reporting increasing house prices were more than those who reported declining prices, according to the Royal Institutioin of Charted Surveyors.
Although the market has withstood the first interest rate barrage, if it carries on then history shows that it could significantly affect activity as the the year goes on, warn Nationwide Building Society and Halifax amongst others.
But on the other hand, these mortgage lenders think the boom in the housing market will still go strong.
The key to the thriving market is the short supply of available housing. In almost three years the number of unsold homes fell to 60 last month, and that is per agent.
But interest rates could rise again soon, so it may be time to cash in on the equity in your homes now. One popular method of equity release is to sell and rent back. Where you would sell your property to an investor or investment company and rent it back.
